Crescent Bay: Could have been worse...

Last week was probably one of the worse non-red-tide dive ever. I was hopeful that this week end would bring clearer and calmer waters.
Well it did not quite work out that way.
Sure, visibility was way better but I still ended up losing my mask as I poorly timed my exit and a big huge 5 foot wave broke on my head  sending me rolling like a tumbleweed just in time to be hammered down by the next wave... Oh well.
Anyway, we had planned to dive Mountain to chase Leopard Sharks again but the surf pattern was so tight that we decided to head North to see if Crescent would be more diveable. It was. Or so we think by just looking at the waves from the top of the stairs. Several divers reported surgy and viz in the lower 10ft  but that did not discourage us. Down we went.
Viz was not that bad. It was hazy, but compared to last week it was night and day. Surge was strong. Despite the sign telling me not to, I almost ended up beaching myself on a rock.
We found a nice bat ray in the first few minutes of the dive, big sheep crabs, Â a minuscule Mexichromis Porterae nudibranch and a nice moray eel. No seal, sea lion, whale or shark. Maybe next week...
